There are two major reasons behind this.

First, it will allow me to demonstrate my skillset in this sector and enhance my knowledge of the art of written communication. This will enrich my digital portfolio which is essential for career growth in the digital marketing industry.

Secondly, I’ve been toying with the idea of diving into providing different kinds of consulting services, including personalized coaching for aspiring content writers. Since I am a successful writer, my advice would be better than self-proclaimed gurus.

The objective of this journal entry is to create a roadmap for this book. It will enclose various details such as the content structure and promotional strategy along with the execution plan and timeline.

Let’s start with the very first thing.

Sections and Chapters of the Content Writing Book

The books I’ve published so far on this website follow a straightforward format. Prologue, chapters, and epilogue. This time, I will shake things up a bit by clubbing multiple chapters into a section, enhancing the readability of the manuscript.

As of now, these are the sections I am planning to include in the book:

  1. Introduction: Fundamental topics related to content writing, such as its definition, types, and scope will be addressed through various chapters within this section. I will also share what to expect from the rest of the book and from a typical content-writing career.

  2. Getting started: This section will help aspiring content writers identify the various nuances of content writing and start producing drafts of their own. It will talk about tools, the definition of ‘good’ content, and the overall digital publication process.

  3. Becoming a professional: The reader will learn how to hone their skills to a threshold level where someone will actually hire them. This includes developing a portfolio and developing a system that helps you improve.

  4. Cementing your position: This section is dedicated to experienced professionals who want to become even better and get paid more for the same amount of work. Tips related to self-improvement, AI technologies, and identifying the right opportunities will be included here.

  5. Conclusion: Each chapter in this section will be a summary of each of the sections above, followed by a final comprehensive chapter. It is basically a concise version of the book that contains just the actionable recommendations.

The chapters within each section will be determined when mapping the book. Moreover, more sections could be added and existing ones may be tweaked based on the insights of the moment.

Marketing Strategy for My Self-Published E-book

Over the past few months, I’ve worked hard to develop content marketing strategies that reach the right readers. It includes promoting content through videos on YouTube and short posts on Medium.

Considering my fundamental objective is to get consulting clients and provide online coaching to aspiring writers, I can promote my content in the following ways:

  1. Converting each chapter into a YouTube video: The description will link to the chapter and the CTA to book a meeting. Also, each chapter will have the meeting CTA at the bottom.

  2. Extracting pieces from each chapter for a Medium post: Publishing there will help me reach actual readers through their internal promotional network and the SERPs. The latter is my preferred method as it has given me good success in the past year.

  3. FAQ-type articles: There are plenty of questions related to content writing, professional and otherwise, that might be out of the scope of my e-book. These can be published separately under the marketing collection and then converted to YouTube videos and Medium posts.

Presently, I am pausing the LinkedIn plan. After all of the marketing content is created and published, I can start focusing on the professional social media platform. It will be quite effortless then because I have to just schedule the content I already created.

Besides, it is important to first build an audience on LinkedIn by entertaining them in a parliamentary correct way and earning their trust. The chances of getting any actual clients when I have sub-1000 followers are low.

Down the line, I have to create another strategy for this platform to raise the follower count. Yes, it will include educational content that may be sourced from this very book, but I must create an aggressive strategy that involves all kinds of content and hits multiple genres.

When the follower count hits an enviable number, like 10k or more, I can start posting content with commercial intent once in a while to get some success. I’ll think about it when I think about it.

Looking Forward: Should Take a Month

Based on the structure of the book, the manuscript will feature about 20 chapters which will take me 20 days at most. However, stringing 20 days in a row to wrap this up can be challenging as I am working on multiple projects.

A realistic timeline would be about 30 days where I must work on the weekends to keep up with the increased demand for quality and quantity.

After the book is published, it will take another few weeks to a month to create and publish all the marketing content. The videos could take even longer!

Of course, in the interim, I will keep working on other projects such as creating F1 videos and building a gameplan for LinkedIn. This is critical for the next phase of my career growth where I transform myself into a complete digital marketer and content creator.

Until next time,

Tara
