This article is the introduction to and the prologue of my free eBook titled “Content Writing Simplified: From Beginner to Professional.”
Content writing is the skill of persuading through text.
It is an essential skill because it allows you to:
Influence other’s decisions through words (written or spoken)
Understand the perspective of your listener
Communicate your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions efficiently
All of the aforementioned benefits of being a proficient content writer boost your professional career significantly, especially if you are a knowledge worker in IT, software, digital services, and management or managerial sectors.
Obviously, you can get high-paying and comfortable jobs, such as a copywriter, blog writer, and digital marketer. However, this core ability to consolidate your thoughts and relay information effectively will assist you in any professional endeavor.
Additionally, the advantages of writing seeps into your personal life as well.
For instance, experienced writers, eventually, become more organized, thoughtful, and influential in their speech. This alone has tremendous advantages in life.
This free eBook will teach you everything about it.
If you are a young college student or fresher who knows nothing about content writing, this book will teach you a monetizable skill that will give you exponential returns over time.
If you are already in the content writing industry, this book will cement your position within it and establish yourself as one of the best.
The book is segmented into various sections based on different phases of a typical content writer’s professional (and personal) journey. You can find all the sections and chapters at the bottom of this one.
I’ve addressed everything from the fundamentals of putting words to paper to making smart career moves after you put your foot through the door.
But first, the prologue.
Prologue to Content Writing Simplified
After pouring my heart and soul into becoming an automotive engineer during my undergraduate years at university, I quickly realized the scope of such jobs in India is quite limited.
Consequently, since I wanted to make money because poverty sucks, I chose to switch fields.
It was a hard decision considering I worked myself to exhaustion and pushed my limits to improve my engineering skills but all in vain. Rather than holding on to the mistake or doubling down by doing a Master’s in the same field (like many of my friends), I let go.
My first job was in sales where I made calls to potential leads and got hung up. My second job was as a digital marketer where I got the chance to do some actual content writing, among other things.
As days passed by, I realized my core strength — writing good stuff quickly.
Soon, I switched jobs to work as a full-time content writer at one of the best agencies in India.
In about 3.5 years of working as a content writer, I have managed to draw a salary that the top 10 percentile of professionals with 5 years of experience do. Well, that’s according to various websites like Glassdoor and AmbitionBox.
Regardless of how accurate those numbers are, it is pretty evident that a content writer career pays well, in the short and long term, even if you are starting from scratch.
And in this book, I will teach you how to replicate the same success.
For free.
The workflow, tools you need, how to get your first gigs, securing a job, and everything else in between.
Looking Forward: Setting the Right Expectations
While everything I’ve said so far in this chapter is true about content writing, it is also accurate that just like any other skill, content writing can take years to master.
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t make your pockets fat six months in, but that could translate to a waiting period until you start raking in big wads of cash.
Plenty of you might feel disheartened by reading ‘waiting period’ because social media has hardwired you for instant gratification.
In the next chapter, I have highlighted the advantages of becoming a content writer to help you make a definite career decision without hesitancy.
Additionally, I’d recommend reading the full book first and then rereading it as you begin executing the steps mentioned to expedite the whole process.
I’ll see you inside.
